Corruption, wage delays are major NREGA issues; don’t marry it to UID

Development economist Reetika Khera said that while corruption in the NREGA has decreased after the introduction of direct bank transfers, it has also resulted in a delay in the payment of wages. Another problem, she pointed out, was combining NREGA with other programmes such as the UID.
